The Alpha in the Workplace course is more specifically designed to run in the marketplace and to serve men and women in business, in a much less intimate setting than the church or someone's home. While the content of an Alpha in Workplace course is exactly the same as the regular Alpha course, there are some key differences such as time constraints, condensed talks, resources, worship, the team, social interaction and follow-up which are specifically outlined in the leaders guide.

That's why we have Alpha in the Workplace.
An Alpha in the Workplace course is designed to sandwich, (pun intended) nicely into your normal working day during your lunch hour, but can also be offered over breakfast or early evening. Your office meeting room is a great location as it is a neutral venue near by. Regardless of location, Alpha in the Workplace retains all the aspects that make Alpha so special: it's sociable, informative and everyone will have the chance to give their opinion or question what has been covered.

Using the edited version of the DVD talks called Alpha Express, (a 20 -25 minute version of the regular Alpha talks) is ideal for use in an Alpha in the Workplace setting and still allows for plenty of follow up discussion.

If you've ever thought about exploring the bigger questions of life, in particular if there is more to life than work, the Alpha course is a great way to find out about real Christianity in a relaxed, non-threatening manner over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions.

What is Alpha and Alpha in the Workplace?
Alpha is a fifteen-session practical introduction to the Christian faith designed primarily for non-churchgoers and new Christians. It is an opportunity for people of all backgrounds, peers and co-workers to explore the meaning of life in a safe, fun, professional & non-threatening atmosphere.

What does an Alpha in the Workplace meeting look like?
Fundamentally it is a friendly gathering around a meal, modeling a host(s) and guest relationship, rather than a teacher and student relationship. During each of the sessions the group watches a DVD on a subject central to the Christian faith. Following the talk, the guests have the opportunity to discuss what has been presented and to explore their responses in an open and non-judgmental forum. In workplace settings, sessions are run over breakfast, lunch or early evening and the DVD, as well as the follow up discussion, are half the time due to workplace time constraints.

What guests have told us:
"The course was initially brought to my attention by a colleague and having heard of the Alpha course from other friends I decided to take a look for myself. It turned out to be an excellent decision. I met some really great people and it was very helpful to discuss Christianity and allowed me to gain an insight into the faith. The format and location, not to mention the food, were great; allowing me to fit the course into a lunch hour. I think, because of the shortness of the sessions, I was left wanting more and always looked forward to returning the following week. The course has inspired me to find out more on my own and so the follow-up course is a great idea as it allows people like me who still want to find out more to continue meeting and learning each week."
"Wherever you work, Alpha can work." This great and brief intro guide has been created for you to encourage folks/leaders to join the "team" to facilitate Alpha in your Workplace. It contains a sample timeline and testimonies to create some excitement as well as an overview of a typical session for your team to understand their role and commitment.
