This comprehensive set, comprising two DVDs and a CD-ROM contains the information you need to set up, run and publicize the Marriage Preparation course in your home, church or community.
The Marriage Preparation Course has been created to provide engaged couples with the tools to give their marriage the best possible start and to build a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime. Over five engaging evenings spent together, they learn how to make a marriage work by
- considering the importance of commitment
- recognizing their differences and discovering the skills necessary for their relationship to develop and to grow
- learning about listening and expressing feelings as well as spending time together and resolving conflict
- discussing how to nurture their friendship, how to make each other feel loved and how to develop their sexual relationship
- recognizing the importance of talking out their goals, values and dreams
We have produced this Leaders' Training Toolkit to make it as easy as possible for you and your team to run The Marriage Preparation Course. DVD1, presented by Nicky and Sila Lee, covers everything you will need to know to start a course and includes a section on training support couples. DVD 2 contains a variety of film clips, to be shown by anyone using a
transcript to give the training talks live. The CD-ROM contains many useful support and administration documents, including the training notes, transcripts, slides, and letter templates.td> |

- (59:36 min) Nicky and Sila Lee give an overview of the course, covering its principles, content, structure and the practicalities involved in running it.
- (11:13 min) Nicky and Sila Lee explain how the course can be used with the FOCCUS questionnaire. This section also includes information on resources and administration and gives guidance on recruiting, supporting and training support couples. The training offered on this DVD will allow you (and any support couples you train) to become certified to use FOCCUS with The Marriage Preparation Course. Once you have viewed the section on "Support Couple Training" (Training in using FOCCUS) please contact the National Marriage Coordinator for your country to get your authorization.
- (47:04 min) Nicky and Sila Lee train support couples to interpret the FOCCUS report and to facilitate a conversation with the engaged couples. If you have support couples helping you on your course we suggest you hold a training evening and show them this section of the DVD. (See Section 6 of this CD-ROM for general guidelines on holding a training evening).
