Taken from the book Questions of Life, "The Holy Spirit?" is a compilation of the 3 talks about the Holy Spirit taught on the Alpha course, by Nicky Gumbel. Great to use as a handout for Alpha guests. "The three talks that you will find in this little booklet are normally given on the Saturday of the Alpha Weekend. They are grouped together - both on the weekend and here - as each relates to the subject of the Holy Spirit. This teaching on the Holy Spirit is fundamental to a Christian understanding of God. Many people know a certain amount about God the father and Jesus the Son, but they haven''t heard much about the Holy Spirit, or they find themselves confused about what they have heard! During the three talks we trace the activity of the Holy Spirit from the beginning of time to the present, looking at the impact He has had on people''s lives throughout history, and how He can make a difference to our own lives. The talks are designed to be informative but also highly practical, as we discover how each of us can be filled with the Holy Spirit and how He can help us to develop our relationship with God. It has been wonderful to watch the way in which the Holy Spirit has worked in so many people''s lives on the Alpha course. I am so grateful to God that despite our failings and weaknesses He remains faithful to us. Many guests on previous Alpha courses have commented that the Weekend Away was a very significant part of the Alpha course for them - and we therefore strongly encourage you to go on one if you haven''t already. The weekend provides some extended time for you to get to know the others in your Alpha group (or on your Alpha course) a little better, as you relax together away from work and other responsibilities. If you have any questions about what you read here, may I recommend that you speak to your church leader or another Christian you know and respect? I pray that this little booklet might give you a thirst to experience more of the Holy Spirit''s fullness in your life.
